MÜNSTER PROMO

Sound design and on-camera work for a six-month tourism film highlighting hidden corners of Münster.

THE BRIEF

Münster Promo is a tourism film designed to spotlight locations in Münster that don't typically appear in standard travel guides: quiet streets, hidden cafés, and corners that locals know but tourists miss. The brief was to make these places feel inviting and discoverable through both image and sound.

THE APPROACH

I wanted the audio to feel intimate rather than touristy: close mics on footsteps and ambience, a soft musical bed that supported rather than dominated the visuals, and clean dialogue tracks so the viewer felt like a local was guiding them. Less postcard, more personal walk.

SOUND DESIGN & MIX

All audio work was done in Ableton Live. I [recorded location ambience on-site / used a sound library / composed an original score / cleaned dialogue with X plugin], then balanced everything in a final mix that kept location atmosphere audible underneath the music and dialogue.

ON-CAMERA WORK

Beyond the audio, I also appeared on-camera as one of the people guiding viewers through the locations. Working both sides of the shoot taught me a lot about what makes dialogue easy or hard to clean up afterwards, and that informed how I approached the recording on later projects.

WHAT I'D DO DIFFERENTLY

With hindsight, [SPECIFIC THING you'd change] (because [why]). Next time I'd [SPECIFIC APPROACH] from the start, especially because [REASON].
